Today Grandpa took the girls to the sugar bush.
It is maple syrup season and today was a beautiful day to be out in the bush. They met up with many of their friends from the playgroup. The ride from the area that cars are parked is on a 'covered wagon' of sorts. It is mostly to give the feel that they are in the country.
Once at the bush, they all watched the trees that were tapped with their translucent lines running from them filled with the sap from the maple trees. After playing outside, they all went inside and ate some pancakes, sausages, potatoes, ham and fresh maple syrup.
They all had a really good time. I haven't been to the sugar bush in a few years, but it will be time to revisit maybe next year, this year the season is winding down.

What's a Canadian without maple syrup?
. Never too soon to learn about your heritage!

They do like going to that sugar bush, our son and his wife take the girls a couple of times a year.
I don't know about learning about their heritage, they mostly just played and learned how they tap the trees for the sap. It was a nice, low-tech day for them to just be kids and play in the sunshine as children should do.

My husband was surprised at how much those little girls can put away at the table-after eating a good breakfast at home!
But they didn't ask for anything for lunch, which was good.
It was a lovely spring day, sunny and the children were all able to play together outside.

I love that photo. I can imagine how much the girls enjoyed this. Now they know where their maple syrup comes from.

So cute. I remember going to Burton for the sap season. I would get a bowl of the maple sap and stir it in the cold air. It would be steaming and then turned into maple sugar candy.
