This isn’t going to get me to watch the news if I can help it.

I think pretty much all over the United States we were told to be prepared for a windy day. The news also cautioned us all about fire danger. So my apartment manager sent out a text warning the residents to keep an eye out for evacuation orders. So far, there IS a fire in my city, but my neighborhood is not under evacuation orders yet. I’d just go over to my dad’s house. He and his wife just pulled into their driveway when I called to tell him to text me if I needed to leave my apartment. He’s further away from the fire than I am. I have no intentions of watching the news all night and worrying, so I have him peek in on the news every once in awhile to let me know. They had been in Branson, Missouri with all his sisters this week so they’re riding high from a lot of laughs.

They probably make it sound worse than it is to get people’s attention.

@AmbiePam We are usually under a burn ban from March to just before Memorial Day. I do not know of any fires near by but the wind is stupendous.

Thanks, Vicki. I bet we’ll be good, but prayers are always appreciated.

Worrying will not help. Being prepared and having a plan does. Keep that level head of yours. Maybe, if you do not have one, you should create a "go" bag (says the person who does not have one.)

Oh, I’m not in danger of worrying now. All my dad has to say is, it’s not going to get you, and weirdly, I believe him. Same with tornadoes. All I care about saving is my medication, and that’s easy to grab since I keep it all in one place. Heaven knows everything is easy to replace except the darn medication.

What city? I've been out of touch with the 'real world' for the past few days. Stay safe! (It's raining here.)

I hope everyone stays safe out there and that you won't have to evacuate. Yah, the news tends to be repetitive with the doom and gloom. We need reliable information, but we certainly don't need the stress.

I swear every tornado season one of our meteorologists on a local station gets so excited when tornadoes pop up. I mean he smiles like he can’t wait to relish his TV time. It’s downright creepy.

We've been getting the high winds and storms here today. Hopefully you didn't get the storms. I was afraid we'd lose another window to the hail that woke me up a little while ago. The high winds don't worry me except for the risk of fire and, after the storms started going through this morning, everything is too wet to worry about fire now. Good luck in your city!

We didn’t get storms in my area, but I noticed other parts of Oklahoma did. I hate hail. I always feel like it’s going to go through the roof.

@AmbiePam I heard the hail bouncing off the storm windows in my room. One of the storm windows shattered last year when we got golf ball sized hail and the window was never replaced. I just have the screen over the glass window there. So far, the screen has bounced the hail off without it reaching the glass window. I was surprised the storm window broke since they aren't made of glass.

I didn't realize the winds were everywhere this weekend. We had a thunderstorm at 6 am this morning and are under sever weather alerts.
