A dilemma

I wrote that Dale and I recently celebrated our 59th wedding anniversary. He gave me a beautiful small diamond ring when we got engaged. Then at the wedding, he gave me a lovely gold band.
I've worn those rings for all these years, but two years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had to take the rings off.
Since then, I've had surgeries, scans, tests, all sorts of things that prevented me from putting my rings back on. If they came off and on easily, it wouldn't be a problem.
But it is so very painful to try to take them off. With arthritis, I'm not sure I could even get them back on.
Dale knows we're married. I know we're married. But I miss my rings.
I don't have any surgeries or scans coming up soon that I know of. But with health issues, you never know.
I know there's no advice, but I just wanted to share that I miss wearing my wedding and engagement rings.
Has this ever been an issue with any of you?
This photo was two years ago at our granddaughter's wedding.

Not me but we had to have Al's ring cut off because of the arthritis in his knuckle. You could put it on a chain around your neck . I know I love my rings.

My mom couldn’t wear her wedding ring for the longest time because her arthritis (she had arthritis at 30) had gotten so bad it was too hard to get on and off. For their 25th wedding anniversary I bought her and my dad new wedding rings (I had money from a car accident settlement) and they were both able to wear rings again. Their first ones just didn’t fit anymore. Arthritis just really screws things up.
I adore this picture you posted.

@1creekgirl I remember when that happened. That was quite an ordeal you guys went through. Sometimes you go through things, look back, and marvel about how you made it. Jesus, of course, is the answer, but it’s still a marvel, isn’t it.
My parents had planned to replace their own weddings rings for their 25th anniversary, but at the last minute they had to replace their dishwasher and dryer, so they didn’t have the money. So I just stole their idea.

Maybe you could find a cheap bigger ring to wear.

I think I'll probably just keep them in the safe.

I recently took my ring off now that my husband is gone. It was a real chore getting it over my arthritic knuckle. I think the ring on a chain suggestion is a good one. Love the picture.

Thanks, Linda. I know that was emotional taking off your ring.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I really want to wear my own. The funny thing is that the rings were always very loose, but hard to get over the knuckle.

I lost my engagement ring a few years ago probably while bathing.

A dear friend of mine has been married for 56 years. He just cannot wear jewelry. He doesn’t wear his wedding ring and he doesn’t wear a watch. But there’s no more happily married man out there!

I totally get it. Dale can't wear his ring now either (arthritis), he had to quit when he started working at Weyerhaeuser. It was a safety issue and he kept forgetting to take it off, so he just quit wearing it.
