Made it through my roughest day of the week.

Tuesdays are hard on me, as I teach several developmentally delayed students. My Tuesday students are not like my Autistic students. They do not have an intuitive sense of music that would surprise anyone not trained in both music theory and psychology. The just have a fairly slow learning curve. I hope I do not sound mean. I ended my day with an adult student who is not developmentally challenged in any way. We worked on several folk songs and had a good time. I am "chilling" now, and look forward to tomorrow (Wednesday), when I have some of my "funnest" students. Have you ever had a job where you had most difficult days and "funnest" days?

Most of my days were pretty routine. Either that or forgotten the bad/good days.

Some parts of my various jobs have been like that. Some degree of routine is actually healthy, I have read.

@JudyEv Yep. Oxytocin is my friend. Cortisol is not my friend.

@TheHorse That sounds logical - better than never knowing what's coming next.

Most jobs do have ups and downs withen them. You most likely are helping the delayed people to reach higher than they thought possible.

Yes, I think piano (and guitar) is good for them as well.

Years ago, we ended up with a director that was too busy to stay in the office and we never knew where he was or if he was coming in. I have to say though that the day when he was traveling and we knew he was out for a week, were the best days!

Oh, I have felt the same at several jobs. When the cat's away, the mice play!

That’s sad. But for the grace of God it could be them or someone they love. But we’re all “slow learners” in something. Psychology was my worst subject in college, for instance. My most fun day on my last job was the day I quit. Retirement, baby!!!!

I think I'd get bored if I retired. The sizes of my bottles of Scotch would increase.

Wow! A fellow musician! I can't imagine the work you are doing. How rewarding it must be for you. Would what you do come under the heading of "Music therapy"?

My training is in psychology, but I have played music since my childhood days. I have no formal training in music therapy, but I would answer your question "yes." What kinds of music do you enjoy/play?
