Spring is officially here!

Today (or rather, tonight really) is the vernal equinox, one of the two times a year when the day and night are of equal length. And it is considered the start of ‘astronomical spring’ – whatever that means. It really did feel like a real spring day here today though; gorgeous sunshine, warm temperatures, quite a lot of flowers about and even a few bumble bees and butterflies. I was able to dry my washing on the line outside. I even cleaned up the garden table and ate my lunch in the sunshine. And for once, the neighbour’s gardener and his power tools kept away! I did actually see him unload a leaf blower from his van, but perhaps he saw me there enjoying the sunshine in peace because he went the other way Hope you got to enjoy some lovely weather today wherever you are! It is a lovely day here. Yesterday, the wind about blew everything away, but today it is sunny and gorgeous.

It's still chilly (41F/5C) in my part of the US but the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing as hard as it has been. We're supposed to reach 51F/10C by late this afternoon, which will feel nice outside.

@JudyEv I don't think so, he just doesn't seem to know what to do with himself if he doesn't have some sort of power tool in his hands. As a 'gardener' I have never actually seen him plant anything.

‘astronomical spring’ is the time of year when you get your council tax demand and you see that it’s gone up by an ‘astronomical’ amount! As for the weather, well, it’s going to turn cooler again next week, so make the most of the next few days.

The vernal equinox – how lovely! It sounds like you made the most of that gorgeous spring day. Drying laundry outside, lunch in the sunshine... pure bliss! And no noisy power tools – even better. I'm glad you had such a peaceful day.
