Plan B again.

Martín just called me. He is not coming. He had told me a couple of days ago that his father (my friend) had a big cold. I messaged him to take a Paracetamol with some brandy. But today Martín told me that he had caught the bug and that he wasn´t coming as he did not want me to catch it. I´m glad in spite of wanting him to come. But ever since I had the pneumonia a few days before Christmas, it seems that my lungs are not perfect. I knew before that my lungs were far from perfect many years ago. After having smoked for decades the oncologist told me that I had an enphysema when I had the first PET scan then. But when you are told that you have cancer, you rather welcome an enphysema so I did not mind much. Now it seems that the cancer is on remission (I have an appointment to check it after not bothering with it since the pandemia started) but the oncologist had told me that once you have an enphysema it is there until your last breath. Anyway, the hummus can keep in the fridge ( I already know that) and the rest of the things I bought are veggies that will be eaten little by little. I now have broccoli, more eggs, carrots and cabbage for the coleslaw and avocados. But I´ll wait until next Wednesday and will ask Anita to cut up the cabbage and carrots, wash them and place them dry in a plastic bag. I just discovered that you could buy said veggies ready to mix with the dressing of your choice but the mix is over 10 times more expensive than the homemade fresher salad. Tomorrow then I´ll look around for a good movie and have a nice weekend in the company of Netflix. And meanwhile, I´ll mylot a bit. See you around.

I know you were looking forward to the lasagna dinner and sides, plus the company. But I am glad he is being so cautious about not getting you possibly infected with another illness!! Martin is a kind young man. I have learned more than ever that plans are often changed due to illness. But it’s best to err on the side of caution.

Martín is a wonderful young man. My friend could not have children and they adopted Mariela and Martín. Both children have been a blessing to them.

@marguicha My oldest son is adopted. And not bragging, just fact, he is one of the best young men I have ever known. A true blessing to our family. I am sure Mariela and Martin are much loved and cherished. Adoption can truly be wonderful.

@marguicha As they say, "live and learn." I am thankful that I quit when I got pregnant with my first child and never started back up.

@kareng Congratulations! I smoked for decades and only quit when my husband, the biggest provider at home, passed away. I did not have money for ciggies and holidays and decided on holidays.

I am. I think that he was very nice to postpone it and to tell me beforehand. I don´t want more ailments than the ones I have. And my lungs and bronchii are not perfect. I remember that the first week I had covid, I had the worst bronchitis of my life. While I sat coughing in the middle of the night I cursed myself for having smoked for so many years.

We got groceries today. I bought more broccoli, sweet onions and a head of cabbage. Pretty got carrots and lettuce. (I don't like lettuce and usually, won't eat salad. ) I'll be making beef with cabbage, carrots and onions. We forgot to pick up some more almond milk. *sigh* I'm glad Martin won't bring you a cold.

You bought the same veggies I did. Except that I do not drink almond milk. I have never had it and it is a lot more expensive than real milk.

@marguicha I can't drink cows' milk. I'm lactose intolerant. I can eat foods made with cows' milk but I normally cook with almond milk. Pretty buys a small jug of cows' milk when she wants to eat cereal. I use almond milk for cereal. I don't drink almond milk.

I am taking care of my health and have done that for a long time. Martín was very nice to have postponed the invitation. And the puzzle will keep.

I often buy the mixed salads and just add dressing. It saves me buying amounts of individual vegetables that I can't use easily.

I don´t trust the hands of the people who shredded those salads. I´m picky. I told Rosa, the maid before Anita, that I could not have her any longer because she was a cellphone addict and worked at the kitchen with her cellphone in one hand. We still see each other once in a while but the first thing I told Anita was that no phone while she was working.

Sounds like a solid plan—rest, good food, and Netflix! Definitely better to stay cautious with your lungs, especially after pneumonia. Hope Martín and his dad feel better soon. Enjoy your weekend, and happy mylotting!

Lucho (Martín father) is a lot younger than me. I´m sure that he´ll be alright. I´m glad that Martín postponed the invitation.

My husband dislikes the pre bagged cabbage shreds. He says that they cut up the core and everything and you have to take it out as it is hard to chew. So most recently I bought a cabbage and he cut half of it for me for a recipe. Just a bit ago I cut the rest of it for colcannon, a dish I had never made. He perhaps is right, we should just do that. It sounds like you have a wonderful plan B and I am glad Martin wants to protect you from catching a cold.

I wholly agree with your husband. Here cabbage is very inexpensive so I don´t mind to take out the harder parts. And Anita is a wonder at shredding it. AND she washes it as it should be washed. My friend Lily is using pre bagged veggies now that she is older. And she does not wash them. So when I go to her house for lunch or dinner I avoid her salads. My immune system stayed a mess after chemotherapy.
