I need some info concerning airports

I haven't flown in about four years when I went to our granddaughter's bridal brunch and spent the weekend with them.
Dale and I are talking about flying to Arkansas this summer to see his relatives, the few that are left.
We'll have to change planes in Charlotte International Airport which is a gigantic airport. It will involve an awful lot of walking which neither Dale nor I are really good at these days.
I remember seeing those golf cart/wagon/ buggy things driving through the airport carrying people to other concourses. But how do you get a ride on one? Do they just stop for people who flag them down like a taxi?
We'll really need to catch a ride in an airport that big. I'll definitely book flights that have a long layover between flights.
Any advice about these things? Thanks, guys.

I've never flown out of that airport but in Houston, I had an extremely short time to get to my next plane and the stewardess called for me a ride as we were taxing. I'm disabled though I can walk. Just not fast and far. Sometimes, you can flag them down but may have to ride where they are going first.

Yeah, what if it's going to several other concourses first and we miss our flight!

@1creekgirl I have laid over in Denver many times. When you get a connecting flight, they give you time to get to them. If the prior plane was delayed, many times, they contact and hold the plane. You just can't stop to use the bathroom, etc. Go directly. Get the cart to take you to the tram. Tram to the other concourse and then get on the cart. All can be coordinated with stuff.

My aunt and uncle recently flew to a grandkids graduation and they had a ride on one of those buggy things. I'm not sure if they had to book it in advance but they swore it was a life saver and they got to their connecting flight without any problems. Hope someone here can help you or maybe the airline itself but do use it.

Try calling the airline where you bought the ticket. And exagerate your pain.

I'll ask about it when I do book the flights. Some days I sure wouldn't have to exaggerate the pain, lol.
How are you doing?

I think, as @lilacskies suggests, you need to book it beforehand.
