First Grill of the Season

Yesterday, I was a little worried the weather might not cooperate as we planned on making brats on the grill for dinner last night while dad's in town. He heads back home today, and got in on Friday night, so it's been a fun visit. Luckily, it all worked out, and it was officially the first grilling of the season, and man were they good. We had them with sides of potato salad and coleslaw, and also had sauerkraut on hand as well as a combination of fried onions and red bell pepper. All I can say is this was good eats! What went on your table last night?

I forgot what I ate yesterday but I always write a post about it. Is that you with that weird hat?

@Kandae11 My husband had some hats like those but he would not have bought that one. He likes blue hats.

Doesn't sound awful. I have not had a store bought pot pie in decades, but I've been thinking about getting some. I usually make pot pie homemade.

@BarBaraPrz Not really. But I know what you mean. It DOES require more effort, but I wouldn't say it requires more effort than cooking most things.

Elbows! And the iPad. And Boca burgers and hash browns, smothered in cheddar cheese soup. And peaches NOT smothered in cheddar cheese soup.

@porwest — I totally agree. I did want to make sure everyone knows I’m not that weird.

I figured the elbows would be there, on your table, for sure. lol. VERY glad to hear your peaches were not smothered in cheddar cheese soup. That would just be gross. lol

Like I like to say, it was good eats. The visit was nice, but of course, getting back to normal is also nice sometimes.

We were excited to try sauerkraut for the first time soon after we got married. We've never had it since! lol Glad you enjoyed your Dad's visit.

Gosh, I love sauerkraut. Great on hot dogs, brats, and in one of my favorite dishes, pork and kraut. Yummy stuff. In fact, I plan on making pork and kraut tonight for dinner since I have plenty of it left from the brats.

Ah, the taste of food off the grill, delicious. Potato salad a perfect compliment. Can't wait for some warmer weather and mild breezes. Right now, the wind is blowing so strong every day it would sweep that food right off the grill. I had Chicken Francese last night. My treat for the week! PS- I like that hat your dad is wearing!

It IS a nice hat, isn't it? lol. Yeah, when the weather's nice, during the summer, I am almost grilling every day. Nothing like it.
