I completely agree! It feels like many people have forgotten the importance of empathy or simply choose not to practice it anymore.

That is true happiness to assist other in need without any expectation of a reward.

I agree. That's what life wants from us. In fact; that's the meaning of life. Doing something good no matter where you are; how you feel is living the life in true sense of the term.

I totally agree that we all have the ability to do something for others. Even a tiny gesture--a smile, hold the door, a compliment, a favor, a coffee...it's not difficult.
You make me think of the saying I like so much--''Be the change you wish to see in the world''...(Mahatma Gandhi)
It's the little things that can help build the big things.

Gandhi never actually said that. Allegedly, what he really said was:
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.”

I think your right, and beside there is nothing going to happen unless you start doing something.
