We did a good deed today

We are house-sitting on a property next to our old house so we have a few friends in the district. One lost her husband back in April and has been managing her acreage on her own since.
She was saying she’d have to buy wood for the winter. Vince’s brother-in-law was visiting so this morning the three of us went to her place and cut up some fallen trees and stacked the wood at the house. We had intended to do it yesterday but there was a total fire ban because of the heat. There was no ban this morning and we were home by 10am which was good as it was just starting to get really hot again.
The photo shows Vince’s brother using the chainsaw and Vince in the background.

@JudyEv In the good old days my mother got such help fromj neigubours' youngsters but now it is beneath them to do any such chores.

@allknowing I can understand that. Most are too occupied with other things for sure.

It was good that you were able to clean up the property and use the wood that she was needing in the same process.

Thanks. We quite like doing this sort of thing but that's probably the last time. We're all getting too old.

I'm sure she was very appreciative of your thoughtfulness and now having firewood. Acts of kindness like this goes a long way.

@JudyEv it absolutely does. My neighbor brings my trash bins up my driveway for me so I don't have to go out to the street to retrieve them. He says it's no big deal but has no idea how helpful it is to me

@Marilynda1225 This is just what I mean. So easy for him in a way but really quite difficult for you.

We stayed put for a long time but in the end thought it was wise to move and downsize. As it turned out, we'd only been in the new place about 12 months when Vince needed two major operations. It would have been very difficult from the old place but the new one was only 10 minutes from hospitals and specialists.

@JudyEv It's always nice to see the opportunity to help and take it. Most see the opportunity and just let it go now days.

That was a great thing to do. It gives her wood and cleaned the property some

It wasn't quite so hot early in the morning but later it was much too hot to do anything.

The Joy of Helping a Friend
Glad you were able to do a good deed for a friend; now she has wood for the winter. Glad you got done early so you where able to get out of the heat. It always feels good to lend a helping hand and help your fellow men.

We enjoy this type of thing anyway. The three of us have done a lot of 'projects' over the years.
