Finally finished my taxes

I tried to do them early last month but I couldn't remember some 5 digit PIN that I had created the year before. Both the federal and state returns were rejected and I was furious. I called to get a refund and the guy was like "no you already used the product" and I was like "yeah but I can't submit the refunds". I seethed for a good month and then this afternoon remembered what 5 digit PIN I would have selected. Fine. Tried to get back into the attempted return and there was no way to use it. I gave up and called TaxAct's customer support. Yes I had the correct PIN but it took like 10 minutes of sharing my screen with her and her directions to finally get the return submitted. I'm walking away with like $350 in my bank account after owing federal but getting state back. Fine. As long as I'm not in the negative.

PIN numbers are the bane of our lives sometimes - quite often, actually.

That’s the problem with creating PINs and passwords: you need a good memory. Or a notepad. We have to do our tax returns by the end of January for the previous year. Our year runs from 6th April to 5th April. I’m not sure why as it doesn’t make sense, but there it is. We used to have to wait until October to get any rebate due, but they are quicker now. I should think so too, as it meant you were often waiting a year and a half for money owed to you. Robbing B*stards! $350 is a nice amount. Spend it wisely, or unwisely, as you see fit.

Congrats on getting the annual headache out of the way. And on the positive side of the ledger!

I just got my tax packet back from my accountant. I owe money, as per the usual. But that's okay, getting nothing back means I am actually making money. lol

That's kind of how I think about owing for federal.

@NJChicaa So long as my bank account grows, I don't care that I have to pay.
