Wow, this restaurant is awful! Oh, wait, I’m home. Yes, I’m cleaning things (garbage pickup is tomorrow, so it’s a good day to fill the garbage cans), pausing to watch the weather blog and give you another song from 40 years ago. Here’s today’s song from 1985. #5: Rock and Roll Girls - John Fogerty Beat the drums and hold the phone, it’s Opening Day! Actually, this is a “place holder,” because anything from that 1985 masterpiece Centerfield would fit here. I have the title song on my 100 favorites list (and it’s the song I play every year on Opening Day). It’s a holiday in Cincinnati (I’ve been watching the parade, which is being streamed live), and it’s a holiday for me! But that’s the title song. This is where Fogerty came back, and in a big way. He plays all the instruments on this (meaning that’s him on saxophone). It’s a joyful celebration, telling us that life is much more than “just a rodeo, the trick is to ride and make it to the bell.” CCR started about 57 years ago. This is 40 years old.
