What in the world? Every dang place I look at has either washer and dryer in units, or wood burning fire places. I am talking about stacked on top of one another apartments. So dangerous. It is maddening!! Are people too lazy to go the laundromat these days? Course that has its own disadvantage as in germs from other people. And who needs not only the chemicals that wood burning puts off or the fire risk of fireplaces in apartments for G's sake? You may wonder why I would be complaining about these lovely amenities. Well, allergies to fragrance and not proper venting for the washer dryers...none of them are ever vented right, as if there isn't enough breathing issues in apartments stacked on top of one another here in this place. You get all that blowback intense fragrance and lint, pounds of lint! And fireplaces..well, that is outrageous to me. Also I will not have anything less than a walk up entrance..not stuck inside hallways with odors and smells of every single person in the building and their fentanyl and meth use. MJ maybe, but still. And smoking cigs inside and the vents!! Disgusting. All my clothes stink of nicotine. My nose burns, our lungs hurt. And property mgrs won't enforce their own no smoking rules. These are some of the major problems I am having in finding a place without these two amenities both at once, or one or the other. Apartments, townhouses, these days have one or both of these in every unit. *A property manager just called me about an apartment that is something we may be able to work with." After all that.

I wish that we were more hardy with all this but after years and years of exposure to chemicals, it is enough..it has affected health in serious ways.

The fireplace you wouldn't have to use, but still all other apartments have them. That would be a concern. Laundry detergent...have you tried a fragrance free detergent? Just a thought there. I hope that you will find the perfect place very soon. I'm sorry this is so hard.

@RebeccasFarm That's terrible! Something should be done about it. Can you report it to the Health Department? I hope this new property is a good one!!

@kareng I have gone every route trying to solve this problem..health dept and all avenues available..no dice. It is sickening. Yes,I want to get out of here so bad..I am looking at another one tomorrow but I can get out of this freaking lease til June 4th. Landlords don't want to hold places til then. We are overcome with fumes and smoke.

@RebeccasFarm I wonder why that is. Why not just have a laundromat in the building then?

When I moved there were 3 non-negotiable for me—air conditioning, pet-friendly, and a washer and dryer.

Yes we have our things that we want that will be ideal for us. I bet your washer dryers are vented out though..you are not getting everyone's stink in your apartment surely..except for that smoking butthead..is he still there?

Washer and dryer are standard items in new apartments here. If you do not like those, you have to look for older apartments. I'm sorry you have encountered so many obstacles. Good luck with the search.

I am using the laundromat for washing right now and the way I figure it, although it is some work I probably am saving money. I do worry about some of the residue in the machines from detergents I react to but to me it looks as if these machines get my clothes cleaner than anything I have had in years. I have a dryer, clothesline and drying racks at home. I hope you find something suitable.

Ohhhh, I hope that "something" turns out to be a good one. Is this an instance of good things come to those that wait ? Keeping my fingers crossed. None of our apartments had a washer/dryer in the unit. But we did have a gas fireplace in our first one which I absolutely loved. But wood burning is different for sure - you need even better ventilation for that.

It is a shame nice people like you can only find a place to live among such "low lives." I'm sure it's very depressing. I guess I should not complain about my stupid neighbor's inconsiderate habits. Do they have any type of senior living apartments in Colorado. In your state and mine they probably rent them to the Tren de Aragua migrants. Hope your troubles get solved soon!
