I miss @Just4Him. She used to hound me to get work done on my developmental psychology book.
This morning, I was self-motivated, and edited some chapters I had written over time. They were compelling, but I was able to add some clarification.
At this point, I have only four chapters that are not done. But all are nearing completion.
Do you have any thoughts about the state of education in our Country (I am from the US)? I want kids, even those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to have the knowledge and self-efficacy that it takes to prosper.
My book will be more "edgy" than many developmental psychology books intended for a general audience. I see myself as an idealist with "realist" leanings.
Have you read the works of Piaget, Vygotsky, Skinner, Bandura, Freud, Erikson, and other developmentalists?

You need to schedule a time and day or time every day to sit down and work on your book. It is dedicated time. Make this a habit and you will get it finished in no time!
With that being said, I need to do the same thing myself. Not for a book, but for writing a few freelance articles.

From what I have heard, the state of education in this country is pretty dire. No, I haven't read any books by a developmentalist.

The question is "why"? Why do so many people, white black and other, wind up poorly educated? Heh. See my comment to @wolfgirl569.

@TheHorse There is a teacher here that makes fantastic $$ but a lot of her students are failing. I don't believe that it's her fault. It seems that a lot of kids don't care about school; and their parents are not as hands-on as they should be. My parents would have killed me if I ever failed a class.

@LindaOHio I think many parents (and grandparents) fail to understand the value of a good education.

I think I was "sipping" Scotch when I wrote this post. Most people have not read books by the famous psychologists of old. Sadly, that includes some teachers. I think teachers should be paid more. But I also think we need stricter standards for teachers. I have worked with some good teachers in my day. But I have also worked with some really bad ones.
