Storm warnings all over the place here.

Tornado watches/warnings...severe thunderstorm/wind warnings, hail, all kinds of stuff going on here. I'm ready, I think. The big trash can is rolled into the garage. I made a big pot of coffee and put it in the air pot, so that I can have my coffee if there is no power. I boiled water and put it in the other thermos thing, for just in case. I keep some bottled water for storms, as well, for ''just in case'' as hey, this is the Midwest--we never know. I don't go overboard, but I do know I want water if I need it. Plus, we put both phones on the chargers. Do you do a bit of storm prep? Pinterest picture

I have my bicycle helmet hanging on the doorknob by my safe place. I also make sure the weather radio is on.

@MarieCoyle — mine has been very annoying for the last three hours. Thank God, though. It’s supposed to be “annoying” to inform people that severe weather is in the vicinity.

Those weather radios are great. That charging port has helped us out before, as well. My oldest son bought me this one, and I really love it.

@FourWalls I am very glad to have one. It's nice to have a device like that to be able to count on. Like you said, it's supposed to be annoying!

@wolfgirl569 I wouldn't have minded a thunderstorm at all, it's that darn wind that does the damage here.

@wolfgirl569 The wind was pretty wild. I hope you don't get it, either.

The good thing here is that vegetation is sparse in our natural desert but all those trees in suburbia could go up in flames

We take precautions also. Different precautions for different storms, depending on the time of the year. In the winter the vehicles are filled with gas. In the warm weather, the outdoor furniture and planters are moved out of the way of the winds. And always, we keep our phones charged. I hope that you and your family remain safe during these pending storms. It is a very uncertain day for the weather. My aunt, who lives about an hour west of us, emailed me that it was a lovely, mild and sunny spring day. But here it is overcast, mild, but overcast and misty all day long. We are just 1 hour closer to the big ice storm that hit the GTA area yesterday.

I saw that big ice storm, very glad it didn’t hit you. We got our power back. Might get more storms later, time will tell.

@MarieCoyle We are just watching the ice storm coverage on the news currently. We are expecting rain storms to move through later on this evening, but hopefully just rain.

Stay safe and have a good day. We now have a standby generator that runs on natural gas; so I am very lucky.

I had a generator where I used to live. But they are not allowed here, this is a townhouse, and since the buildings are linked together, it's not a doable thing. You are lucky for sure!

Yes, we fill gallon jugs with water to flush toilets if power goes out for hours and hours, which is fairly common here. I always have bottled drinking water, so we are good there. Also a loaf of bread for sandwiches...peanut butter and jelly if nothing else is in the house! Hope ya'll miss the bad stuff! We got lucky this weekend! But more around 1 am until noon on Monday.

Living in the sunshine state, and going through at least one tropical event a year, I don't really have to storm prep, because I stay prepared. When I had extra money, I kept a few portable charges around. I have extra cables for our phones, And magsafe is my best friend. I even have an extra cable for my laptop.

I have a portable charger to use and also a weather radio that charges phones, etc. we are always pretty much ready. But I do like to put the trash can away in the garage, as well as try to start out with phones charged up.
