It’s time for a new month, and a new countdown! For April, I continue my birthday celebration by going back to the 60s. First up: songs that are celebrating their 60th birthday this year.
Remember, this isn’t meant to make you feel old. That’s what arthritis is for.
It’s to celebrate the great music we’ve had in our lifetimes. And, for you youngsters, it’s an opportunity to show you how old those songs on FM radio are.
For your teaser, here’s a completely ridiculous mashup of two of the biggest names of the 60s, Bob Dylan and the Four Seasons. Dylan wrote this song, and he probably never envisioned it done like THIS. The story goes that the Four Seasons were having a tough session, so to lighten things up, Frankie Valli sang this song with a crazy falsetto. Well, waddaya know, the record company RELEASED IT — under the pseudonym “The Wonder Who?” — and it was a top 20 hit in 1965!

They changed the names to protect the guilty in this case.

Not surprised. It was a “knock-off” that did well against the odds.

He showed signs of it in “Walk Like a Man.”

I like the Four Seasons but had never heard this version of the song. I'm surprised it made it to the top 20.

I know. I’m pretty sure they were embarrassed by this, especially given how comparatively well it did on the chart.
