Brightly coloured silks

April 1, 2025 2:42pm CST
Jockeys wear silks during horse races. I know some disagree with the sport, but it is a sight to behold. All those horse running, with the jockeys wearing brightly coloured silks, it does brighten up my day. Each jockey is vying for position on the track. Trying to give their horse the best possible chance to win the race. Some race handy and others hold their mount up for a late surge at the finish. The brightly coloured silks represent the ownership of the horse.

We'll be going to something similar in May but the horses will be pacing attached to spiders (carts).

When I could get to horse races I loved watching the horses run and the jockeys always looked so dressed up.

Yes. Even the people out for a day at the races enjoy the occasion and get dressed up. It is one of those places you can go in jeans and a T-shirt or get dressed up

Jockeys can't be tall or overweight either. They must watch their diet carefully.

A short height gives them an advantage for sure.
