We used to have to do it every year in NJ. Then it went to every other year. Now when you buy a new car you don't have to do it for 5 years. Well my 5 years expired back in February. I wasn't trying to avoid it--it was just like "out of thought out of mind". I noticed it yesterday and was like "yikes". With all of the tutoring that I do after work I will have to wait until Spring Break in a couple of weeks to go get that done. I don't even understand what the point is anymore. When I first started driving they checked brakes, lights, horn, etc. Now they just check emissions. Whatever. At least I don't have to pay to have it done.

I wonder what happens if you are pulled over?

How do you have it renewed? The registration is to be renewed annually, right?

Does it mean it's unlicensed at the moment? I guess not. We'd be in great trouble here with an unlicensed car.
