Pots.

It seems that I might have gone quite potty about plant pots. I’m finding all sorts of receptacles in which to house my plants and I’m likely to run out of room it seems. For example, photographed above is a teapot we no longer use for its intended purpose because I broke its lid. It now, as you can see, is home to some little flowers. Are you conservative or liberal in your choice of plant receptacles?

Very pretty and a good idea about the teapot. I bought a couple of plastic tubs that were meant for farm use cause they were large and cheaper than pots intended for plants. Hubby showed me how to drill holes in their bottom ends for drainage.

I have several large pots on our front porch that normally hold tomatoes and bell peppers when the weather cooperates. The last two summers, Pretty hasn't wanted me to plant anything in them because when I can't see to water them, she won't water them. She says if I can't take care of them myself, it's stupid to plant anything in them. *shrug*

@DaddyEvil You don't have to use your eyes. Pur your fingers in the dirt and feel for moisture.

@sallypup I have to be able to see to get out the door and down the steps and then back up the steps again. I fell on the front porch two years ago and got a bone bruise on my hip and had trouble walking for months. I don't want that to happen again.

@DaddyEvil No don't do that again. I love railings. We have concrete steps. I worry about them and their steepness- it really hurts for me to go up them.

Have you got a pot in the teapot or have you put holes in the base? Or are you just careful not to water it too much?

@judyev The plant is in a shallow pot that fits neatly into the teapot leaving about an inch of free space below the pot if that makes sense.
