Spring is here in Florida. A roof company really wants my business, but I'm going and keep saying 'no'. Yes, my roof has damage, and that's the hook they use. You live anywhere, especially those devestated by storms recently, and you know full-well you're going to have damage , wear and tear on the roof. Here's the thing. I have solar pannals. I had them professionally installed by licienced and insured contractors who do, amoung other things, roof work. We had our house inspected ten different ways throughout the instulation process. I am well aware this is going on three years later. I know we've had a few storms since, including two hurricanes. And our solar pannals saw us through it. Our roof held up. Will it need to be replaced someday, sure. But, I'm going to do it the right way. Not let someone who knocked on our door, and bully me into agreeing to sign my life (and money away) to get a new roof .

I will not open the door and I will also not answer the call of anyone whom I do not know.

Quite often is the case, thease people approach our home while we're sitting on our front porch. Or, they'll try to talk to my husband, and I have to step in because he'll go off the rails and confuse the hell out of everyone (including me).

@id_peace When I'm doing it intentionally, it's one thing. But, for George it's another lot harder. Because he's trying hard to talk and make sense. And he'll go off the rails. A lot of time he's aware of it and tries to self-correct, Other times, he won't realize it, but he feels everything. And, he's learning what his limits are. Both new and old.

@kaylachan Sometimes, it helps to confuse those who tried to get anything out of the confusion. I used to do that too when I was bored and want to have some fun with the strangers.

I could see a chain on this guy, and that's a no-no. Now I know some businesses use a uniform on a st string, (what my friend called a badge worn around the neck), but he had nothing but a white truck and business card. And, from what I could see ( and I'm blind mind you) the truck was unmarked.

You’re absolutely right to stand your ground. It’s frustrating how pushy some companies can be, especially when they prey on concerns after storms. It sounds like you’ve done everything responsibly — hiring licensed professionals, getting proper inspections, and making sure your solar panels and roof were installed to last. That peace of mind is worth a lot. You clearly care about doing things the right way, not the fast or pressured way. Good on you for not letting anyone intimidate you into something that isn’t right for your home or your wallet. Do they keep coming back, or was this a one-time hard sell?
