With all the talk and angst generated by the faltering world economy with its winners and closers, the BBC has offered sage advice on its web page on how to navigate harsh economic times.
Under the heading “Three things you can do to make ends meet”, it recommends that families facing hardship should cut back on their spending!!!!!!
I wonder which School of Economics the genius who wrote that attended.

I always hate economic advice from rich people. First its like duh? 2nd it always ends the same way. Work harder. If working hard actually worked there would be no poor people. No one works harder than poor people. Then they change the rule's' s ,well be smarter then.

To be fair, economic advice from rich people is probably more worthwhile than advice from poor people. Because if the poor people gave good advice, they would no longer be poor would they? They would be the rich ones, and then you would refuse to listen to them!

Sounds like they need to experience the real world.

@fleura I was involved with debt management for a while, helping people structure their financial lives to get on top of things. I was flabbergasted to hear what sort of things people considered essential. Many thought it ridiculous that each family member couldn’t reasonably expect to have their own iPad for example, and most were unwilling to reduce the number of TV subscriptions they had. Some were indignant that I suggested fewer nights out at the pub, and that by drinking less they could afford more nutritious food for their kids. High end trainers were definitely not up for negotiation. The general attitude was that it wasn’t their fault they were in debt (which it generally was) and it wasn’t fair that they should have to pay what they owe. Some folk can’t be helped. Others of course took the advice on board and became debt free.
