Local mayor is fighting with Jon Bon Jovi

Famous NJ rocker Jon Bon Jovi has a few restaurants that serve food for the homeless and those who cannot afford a meal. They are called "Soul Kitchens" and there are at least 3 that I know of around here. There has been one for years in town but now there is a "pop-up" one at the main branch of the county library.
The Toms River mayor is big mad about that because he claims it is attracting drunk and mentally-ill men to the area. Sounds like he is using a page from Trump's playbook.
This guy is already incredibly unpopular because he shut down the town's animal shelter. He himself is suspended from his job as a teacher and is up on tenure charges for his job in another school district. Now he is fighting with Bon Jovi over his attempts to feed and provide resources for the homeless in the area? Dude is making friends left and right.

I normally agree with the things you're saying but I've got a question on this one... Why set up a "soup kitchen" where there aren't any homeless to begin with? Why not take the free food to where the homeless are at instead?
Edit to add: Ohhhh.... Bon Jovi is doing it to annoy the rich people to get his soup kitchens free publicity... Is that correct? It seems like a weird thing to do.

@NJChicaa Oh, I see.... I was thinking Bon Jovi could just buy a property outside the little town and make his soup kitchen there. I hope, things work out for him. That mayor sounds like an a ss!

Nothing says “I’m dedicated to the people” like “F those homeless and the people who help them.”

I wish people like him would spend their time doing worthwhile projects instead of criticizing good efforts.

I never realized how compassionate Jon Bon Jovi really is—he’s not just a rock star, he’s feeding the hungry and showing real heart. Sadly, a mayor doesn’t see it that way, criticizing instead of appreciating the good being done. What Bon Jovi is doing through his Soul Foundation is truly powerful—funded by donations and partnerships, it’s all about giving people dignity, not just charity. Hopefully, more people start seeing the bigger picture like he does.

We call them “Soup kitchens” over here and they are becoming more and more popular, along with food banks. We have many beggars in the streets too, mainly from Eastern European countries, but they want money, not food.

We have several of these type of places. They are orderly and clean and well run. I drive past one of them often, I have been told by others who volunteer there that they are orderly and a good place for homeless/displaced/hungry people to go to get a decent meal.
