I can’t think of much that betters rising with the late spring sun and pottering about the dew-wet garden, noting what seeds have sprouted overnight and setting out breakfast for the birds.
And aren’t birds so admirable, so skilful? I watched two doves fondly canoodling (it would be rude to say copulating in mixed company) on the balustrade that surrounds the decking. So tender yet so agile, and the job seemed to be done in about 10 seconds before he flew away.
What amazed me most was their balance, how everything was achieved while perched on the narrow stretch of wood with no hands to hold on, and they never fell off.
Mission accomplished, she looked a bit of a mess, her feathers all rumpled and puffed out so she fluttered over to the birdbath and sorted herself out.

Interesting. I'm glad she has a male admirer. I'm left with none. :-(
