I find these so called national days amusing.
Today is Change Your Name Day so if given the opportunity, would you Change your name?
My name is Marilyn and I hated it most of my life. I never felt like a Marilyn. I was born on Christmas so I always wondered why my parents chose Marilyn rather than maybe Holly or Noel. I always wanted a name that reflected Christmas
Now that I'm older I've become accustomed to Marilyn and it doesn't bother me as much as when I was younger.
So, do you like your name or would you change it and if you were going to change it what would you rename yourself?

Mom insisted I always get called "Robert" everywhere I went. When I got old enough that people paid attention to what I wanted, I called myself "Robb". Nobody had a problem with that until I started working at Walmart. For whatever reason, they insisted I HAD to use my "legal" name... Every time they issued me a name badge, they printed my full name on it and I'd take it back and insist they reprint it as "Robb"... They did that a few times and then I got tired of the hassle and threw away the new name tags and kept using the one I already had. When a manager saw me still using an old name badge, they'd ask where my new one was and I'd tell them it had the wrong name so I threw it away. They stopped asking after a while.

Our son is called Robert, but I've always called him Rob. He was named after my father.

@1creekgirl Dad wanted me named after one of his brothers so my middle name is Earl. Mom picked my first name but I don't think I'm named after anyone.

I got a lot of that Marilyn Monroe when I was growing up and I never felt like I could measure up to the glamour associated with the name.
I love your name Amber and couldn't picture you with a different name

Its OK, my name is Karen. I would prefer Kerry or maybe Wendy. I don't plan on changing it, but I do use Karry online sometimes.

I like Marilyn! I had a lovely aunt with that name.
I don’t mind my name at all. I just don’t like the jokes that go along with it (Karen).

@DaddyEvil — oh, I have a good time with it. When a server introduces himself/herself to me at a restaurant, I always reply in a silly voice (so they hopefully realize I’m joking), “Hi, I’m Karen! I wanna see the manager!”
Then I explain that I’m Karen but not “a” Karen.

I bet you still get some odd looks from some of them! (I wonder if any of them scurry back to their management and tell them to keep in mind that they have a Karen in the restaurant?

I wondered what you thought about those "jokes". I hate that "Karen" has become a "bad" name now.

Our granddaughter was born on Dec 23 and I had hoped they would give her a Christmas name, but they didn't. I'm not crazy about my name, but too late now!

I like my name, all five of them, so didn't bother changing it when I was married. I used to sign my artwork with my initials: BTAMP

Mine is Evelyn and early in my teens, I changed it to Eve. I thought Evelyn reminded me of an old woman. I am an old woman now and I don't care which is used. Just call me.

Our very first night time babysitter's name was Marilyn.
She was a sweet and soft spoken teenager from down the road.
I know a lady, like yourself, born on Christmas Day and her name is Christine, but goes by Chris.
It makes sense.
I don't ever remember wishing for another name, other than that I wished that I did not have 3 names before my last name, that is a bit much.
I remember my mother always told me that she wanted to name me Laurie Anne, but my Dad preferred Julia Anne, and well, his word was final on that one as that is my name.

I have thought about changing my name but when I realized that I should embrace my name since I am not related to a gangster or evil human being.
