What things are most expensive where you live right now?

Prices of groceries and other "stuff" have gone way up over the past couple of months. But, to my pleasant surprise, some of my favorite things are pretty stable. Stouffer's Fettuccini costs the same has it has for years. So does my favorite frozen pizza. It seems (here in California) that produce has gone up the most. Things like apples and avocados are way up in cost. Bacon is up to close to $20/lb. Steak is at about $25/lb. Gas skyrcoketed, but then actually went down 15 cents this past week. Restaurant prices are way up. But I only order out once or twice a week, What prices are going up the most where you live?

Everything seems up. Eating in a restaurant, everything. Waiting to see what some car repairs are going to cost us. I'm sure that's gone up.

I hope the cost is not too bad for the car repairs.

@paigea I have written off having any more repairs done on our old Chevy, the parts will be ridiculously overpriced. It is 10 years old and it isn't worth repairing, we don't even need it.

@Juliaacv Heh. My Chevy Silverado is a 2008. I hear it groaning sometimes, but the engine is strong.

The price of an automobile or any repairs on it has gone through the roof, but so has pretty much everything it seems. We are only 4 months into 2025, but it has been a costly year thus far. The cost of our gasoline dropped from the $160/L cost to $1.25/L just recently. They removed the carbon tax as they no longer offer us the carbon tax rebate, so they had to do something. I have noticed that coffee is extra expensive, but the crop hasn't been the greatest and I understand the price hike. I have 3 big canisters of Maxwell House in the pantry, so I won't have to go without.

The chocolate I like has gone up nearly $2 from about two months ago. We haven't bought any meats in a couple of years because even just hamburger jumps so much about two years or so back. Fruit hasn't gotten too bad yet. The current price of gas is $2.91 per gallon in Boise.

I'm flabbergasted over the price of bacon and steak. I haven't bought either in years. I do all my online shopping at Walmart. Everything is expensive; but I buy a lot of house brands which keeps my cost down.

Same here. Prices go up like groceries , beef , pork meat and rice. These products prices are higher compared to past presidents in our country.

A better question is what isn't? Everything except stuff produced locally is higher.

I don’t know, because I really don’t buy outside of my old pay grade. I’m allergic to eggs, so I don’t have to worry about the price of them (since I can’t eat them). Gasoline went up last week in anticipation of the crowds for Thunder Over Louisville; however, because the floods canceled it, they dropped quickly. They’ll go back up in two weeks for the Derby.

I stick to what I can afford but I will tell you the last eggs I bought are so tiny I could take an egg and hold it in a fist, At least the price was right,.Now I stay home and listen to Those Were the Days and remember when mom and I would go out to eat and toast each other with Martinis or Manhattans,

Many of the grocery items seem to have gone up at least a bit. Meat is certainly much more expensive now.
