Am I turning into a jerk in my old age?

I watched this video of some shoplifters getting busted with some degree of pleasure this morning. And I admit that I also derive some pleasure from major politicians getting busted for their crimes. The irony (or maybe it's just the sad part) is that none of the bad guys get what they deserved. If you want to share in my evil joy, watch this women get busted. But if you watch it to the end, you will see that they got things like "Probation" for their crimes. I do not beileve either of them spent time in prison. At least not for this crime. Essentially they got the same sentence as criminals on a larger scale get for their crimes. Do you consider yourself to be "hard on crime"? Do you ever take pleasure when justice is served? Do you get frustrated when justice is not served?

I hope Trump experiences the consequences of his actions before he can experience nothing.

When I see that someone was executed for a capital offense I wave bye-bye to them, so yes, I do appreciate justice being served. I do get upset when criminals walk away, but I believe in God and therefore I believe nobody escapes HIS justice.

But it was not, even in the case of these criminal ladies. And, so far a I know, Trump is still out there as well.

Some of the sentences handed out here are ridiculous and certainly don't act as a deterrent.

Of late, I feel, punishments and sentences behind the bars, cannot act as deterrents. The punishments and sentences need to be executed out in open, like in ancient times. Then it will shock the senses of people, and they will refrain from attempting such crimes. But the converse is also true. We humans get habituated to seeing somethings...so we might just get habituated to seeing such punishments and enjoy them. Remember The French Revolution and the crowd cheering. We might become like that. All I am saying if a punishment is not witnessed, there is no way it is going to be a deterrent.

You are just getting wiser. My rich Uncle Ben was quite the guy. If you had money he would see you. Other wise, he felt good when he shared some.

I"m definitely hard on crime. Sometimes I'm amazed at the light sentences that some heinous crimes get.

I am too. I admit that I grew up with "privilege." My parents were loving, successful, and modeled values for me.. But I akso admit that I think people like Donald Trump and the lady in the video, even if they werre less fortunate than I was, should face consequences for their actions.

I know the judges usually look at various aspects of a case before sentencing - yet l wonder about some sentences they hand down. People here are wondering how a school teacher who murdered his father ( a Pastor) and his mother and was found guilty of the crime received a sentence of 7 years.

I love it when justice is served in time but that's very rare. Justice delayed or denied is frustrating. And we have plenty of cases here. That's unfortunate but true! Common people have less share of fair justice, justice also bows down to power and money.

It's understandable to feel a mix of emotions when seeing justice meted out, especially when it seems like the punishment doesn't fit the crime. Many people share that frustration, especially when high-profile cases reveal a perceived leniency in the legal system. It raises questions about fairness and accountability—especially when smaller offenses seem to be dealt with more harshly than larger-scale crimes. It's a complex issue that often sparks debate about what true justice looks like and how we can ensure that consequences are appropriate for the actions taken. What do you think could be done to improve this situation?

Answer to question 1 is, I always like to see people that do crimes get what they deserve & it makes me mad or P/O to see them get a slap on the shoulder like it's no big deal, but yet some 1 else does the SAME THING & get 30 yrs W T ? that's not right. Answer to question 2, I get thrilled when people think they can do what ever the H3ll they want & think they are too smart to get justice for it & find out they get the book thrown at them Answer to question 3, go look at answer 1 again.

I think that is you cannot get by on what you have and then you go and shoplift and get in trouble you are just causing yourself more problems than you already have, Accept what you can or cannot have and be done with it,
