And now we come to a song that might not get listened to by any of the male members. You’re just here to stare at the album cover. Can you believe, the album cover that launched a million dirty dreams is 60 years old now? Back to 1965 for a classic song. A Taste of Honey - Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass Unopened mint copies of this album are a dime a dozen, because guys just bought it for the cover. Fun fact: the model, Dolores Erickson, is still living. She’s 89 (she’ll be 90 in September). Herb Alpert is still living, too (he just turned 90)…AND performing. I think I read that Erickson was pregnant when she did that photo shoot. It’s not whipped cream (despite the album title), it’s shaving cream, because that wouldn’t melt. Most of the white at the bottom is a sheet or a blanket. And I’ve spent all this time and caloric output typing that and the guys are STILL gawking at the picture, instead of reading or listening. This is a really good album (we had it when I was a kid), if you ever get around to listening to it. A Taste of Honey Written by Bobby Scott and Ric Marlow Recorded by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass From Whipped Cream and Other Delights, 1965 And this album won FOUR Grammy awards…but they never listened to it!

The gal on the cover looks like Natalie Wood. I'd forgotten this one. He was great and still around, huh?

I never got into buying albums after the one by Iron Butterfly but I did buy 8 tracks and cassetts. EDIT: dang it, lost my train of thought. Mom had a lot of the TB albums but I wasn't that deep into them although I liked them.

He was a cutie! Yeah, that could have been a poster boy on the cover of Going Places (as you can tell, we had a few of their albums)!

That's so funny. We have a piano music book of Herb Alpert pieces.

Is this album cover the book’s artwork? Seriously, he made some terrific albums in the 60s. We had four of them, so it wasn’t just this one!

@FourWalls I can't find the book at the moment but it shows him leading his group down a street.

Those are some interesting facts. And the cover does look very ahead of the times, and it's hard to imagine that she is pregnant.

Alpert said he was slightly surprised that the “censors” let the cover go. He also said that, in comparison to other covers that came later in the decade, it’s extremely TAME.

@FourWalls It's surely is TAME and pretty sober for what all we see these days.
