Buying a car is expensive. Even a used car will have a ton of repairs. Gas. Oil changes, etc..
But an Uber ride can't be that expensive for a 5-10 mile trip.
Anyway, if anyone has experience transitioning from one to another, please let me know - I'm deliberating different jobs and my budget of course.

The price varies wildy on where you live, and how often you have to go. I also found it often cost me more to come home, vs going to. And it was the same number of miles. Depending on the time of day, prices very, too. Addationally, if you're commuting to somewhere where you have to be on time, you need to give yourself at least an hours wait time. It can take time to get to you, and I've had drivers accept me, then cancel the ride. makine a five minute wait, a twenty-five minute wait.
And, if you use ride share, you don't order your ride until you're ready to walk ut the door. Because you won't know until they accept and confirm the ride, how long it'll take. Assuming they don't cancel. And, if you're not waiting for them after two minutes they can either charge more, or cancel and leave without you. And, forget it if you're a backseat driver.

Yeah, I would definitely be early at first, just to see how it works.

@PinkFloydFan If I'm being honest, you might want to weigh out the cost of a car vs using rideshare. I easily spent one k going back and forth to the hospital, when my husband ws hospitalized. and that was a month, two months in a row.
