Do You Celebrate Good Friday?

I do but I don't if that makes any sense. So my family has always recognized the day and we respect that we don't eat meat. However, the why and all that has been lost over the years. I am not the religious one so I don't get it. I don't mind making a meatless dinner but being really strict about it, I don't get. I slipped one year while we were still back home in Maryland and you would have thought I committed a crime with how my mother acted. When she's not around I'll admit I don't really follow the day. Do you celebrate it? Is it something that's just been passed down or do you actually do it because you know about the day itself?

I was raised Catholic; but I consider myself a Christian now. I don't participate in meatless Fridays.

I was raised Catholic and we never ate meat on Fridays and certainly not on Good Friday. However, as the years have passed I've become a lax Catholic and don't always adhere to the meatless Fridays. Good Friday for me is still a day of reflection

Isn't the whole "meatless" thing a Catholic tradition? I'm Protestant, I don't follow any of those guidelines. I don't even know what the reason is for abstaining from meat is.

Blessed Good Friday to you too!! We don't celebrate, but I would say we observe the "Good Friday", some by fasting or some by not eating meat at least on this day.

Yes, we do adhere. We fast and abstain on days of obligation and that includes Good Friday. We refrain from work as we consider the day, a holy day of prayer and reflection.
