There was a programme on TV this morning about the exotic taste of combining chocolate with chili.
That is a new trend these days - combining uncommon tastes. I have mixed sweet and spicy tastes and the outcome is that it tastes so good
As you know there are 6 tastes - sweet, sour, pungent, astringent, salty and spicy. I am sure efforts will be made to combine all these though not all together but putting together odd tastes and coming out with the best combination

I cannot eat spicy foods. So this combination is not an option to me.

That isn't really a new thing. It has been done in Mexico and parts of SA for years. I've tried it before though..not a fan really unless the chili is barely noticeable.

Yes, they are coming with all new odd combinations. And some of them are really good. We have that balance of sweet and spicy in many of our chutney and sweet pickle preparation. I have tried hot chocolate with chillies and some herbs and spices in Mariott in Kochi. It was too good.

@allknowing When we were kids we used to go for weddings where we were served on banana leaves. After we ate the food where there was always some leftover they would serve paisa on the same leaf and that taste was something that I cannot forget.

@allknowing I know. I can relate to it. It will get mixed with all the salty, spicy dishes that were served before. It infact would make it taste better.

I have heard of chocolate being an ingredient in chili. I like to add sour cream to chocolate cake,
