Goat or Sheep?

Having gotten used so much to the birds in my homestead, I am considering adding more livestock. At the moment I can afford a goat or a sheep. However I am undecided which one to begin with. I wish i could have enough money to buy both, but I have to start off soon lest I misuse the money I set aside for one of them. Should I start with a goat or a sheep? Which one is easier to handle?

Sheep need to be sheared so that is extra work. But goats can be hard to contain.

As Karen says, you need to consider why you want a sheep or a goat. You could butcher either for meat or let them have offspring which you could eat or sell. A goat might give you milk for the family once it's had a kid. Do you have enough grazing year-round for such an animal? Goats like browsing more than grazing but I'm sure you know that.

I'd love to have a goat or two. I dislike getting one of any animal. They need a companion. What did you decide on?
