Trump's stupid tariffs go into effect on Tuesday so Penzey's is having a sale to encourage customers to stock up on spices and seasonings. I just love how the owner isn't afraid to be political and criticize Trump's terrible policies. Literally he started the post on FB with "Elect an A.H. expect an A.H. tax."

They are offering 16.8% off almost everything (including vanilla and saffron) which will work out to be 25% off what you'll have to pay after they implement their first price increase of 8.4% on Tuesday.
I need more spices like I need a hole in the head but I think I'll order some vanilla. It isn't like I'm going to stop baking anytime soon and the tariff on Madagascar is 49%.

Several of my friends in Chile will not buy any producefrom the US while Trump keeps on playing with tariffs. There are lots of alternatives and although I´m sorry for the people in the US, maybe the cult members will stop using those horrid red hats.

I’ve already got too many out of date spices in my cupboard, so although I’d be tempted, I’d have to pass. Vanilla and saffron are very expensive here too, without the tariffs, but they’re not something I use, so I’d pass. I hope you stocked up on cinnamon.

My spices lie old and unused in my pantry. Sigh.

Just don't buy so much vanilla that someone might suspect you of being a rummy...
