Issues upon issues.

The positive way of looking at our boiler/furnace issues is that the weather is heating up, and heat is not urgently required. The negative way is to focus on the expense of buying a new one and having it installed.
The previous owners of the house never had the boiler serviced, and it was inexpertly installed.
So a new one is required at the cost of a modest trip to Athens staying in a cheap but clean hotel.
We’ll not bother having the work done till after our excursion to Greece which starts in 10 days or so. But the sun is shining, our shower is electric and I’m informed that the toilet doesn’t need hot water to flush - I grew up thinking otherwise.
And speaking of a trip to Greece, now that I’m retired and have too much time to think, I am confronted with the issue of how much underwear to pack. The trip will last 17 nights I think, and most of it will be spent in a house that has a washing machine. My ladies will take enough for 6 months of course, but I have reckoned 4 sets of foundation garments should suffice, so long as the washing machine works. If not, more can be purchased though that throws up its own issues.
Anyway.

They never had their boiler serviced? Wow! Pack a lot of underwear. Better to have too much than not enough.

Have a good trip, and try not to think about the boiler. It will be there to greet you upon your return. Lucky you!

Does Greece still welcome tourists? I guess so and certainly hope so.

@judyev Greece welcomes me with open arms. However I’m an excellent and respectful guest, unlike some of my fellow citizens. Most tourists coagulate around resorts near airports but my island has no airport thankfully, and generally people don’t stay long in Athens. Still a very welcoming country for tourists.
