There is a learning curve getting used to a new car

Last night I was having trouble with both the rear entry and the gas cap. I am a little low on gas, and would have had to get some last night running around. This AM I got the back part of the vehicle open, but it wouldn't start right away which unnerved me. Then got it started just need the right technique nothing wrong with the car, and had to go the garage for help with the gas cap which of course easily opened there so I felt stupid. I still haven't found the switch for the gas door, even though there is supposed to be one. I scoured the vehicle and the book that came with it. I am sure it must be there somewhere. Anyway, I should go to a group tonight but I think I have had enough car adventures for today. Don't worry, it'll get easier.

It all seems like a big puzzle until you get used to it. One thing I am worried about is that the guy said he would always put sea foam in the car (cleaner whenever he got gas) You have to use that on a full tank of gas. I don't often put that much in it. I was thinking about putting 10.00 in. That won't be enough to fill the tank..I am a bit worried my check engine light will go on. I could ask the guy but I have messaged him a few times already. He is probably gonna tell me to go away.

@snowy22315 Oh, those annoying and temperamental engine lights make me so crazy. I hope it doesn't come on!

@MarieCoyle I think I am going to add the fuel additive he suggested. That is all I would need to unnerve me is to have the check engine light come on!

@snowy22315 This is exactly why I don't want another car.

@snowy22315 The cost of tires and battery shocked me but otherwise there have been no new noises.

Yes, there is! Even getting a newer car of the same model has new things. May I suggest you watch a YouTube video…type in your car make and model and “gas lever” and it should pull up a video to help. Believe me, I’ve used the YouTube garage a lot with my car…and this is my fourth Honda!

I did that with the gas cap because it is strange too. You would think there would be info in the manual but I don't see it. Well actually there was in the cap, but I didn't see anything for the lever. It is in the trunk it turns out .don't think I will be using it. That's dumb

@snowy22315 — that’s kind of a dumb place to put it.

Ha, I liked how i accidentally turned the rear wiper on, and couldn't get it off right away. Of course it was a bright sunny day. I probably looked crazy.

@snowy22315 When we were between cars and motor-homes etc the headlights were on one side of the column and the wipers on the other. We were always turning on the wrong ones.

It took me forever to get all the bells and whistles figured out this last time. My last vehicle, I had for years and years--a Jeep. (I've had several Jeeps over the years) and it was pretty simple. Heat/AC, stereo/radio, etc...now cars have screens and back up cameras and all kinds of gizmos--and mine is simple compared to some of them out there.

Next week you will be laughing at not being able to find the button for the gas cap release!

We have a push button start on our Tiguan. It wasn't hard for me to get used to, it was the button on the console across from it that took me a few times to get used to. It took my husband longer though, so that made me feel good. The car shuts off if it is idling and not in motion, but there is a button on the console that you can shut that feature off, as it is annoying in my books, and unnecessary. I still don't use the heated mirrors because although I can turn them on, I am not certain that I know how to turn them off and I wouldn't want to drain the battery. You're in better shape than I am, and our SUV is 3 years old already.

Yikes, I read something about the lever for the gas cap being in the trunk..who would put it there? If that,s the case, I won't be using it!
