Received a sweet email from a student

I used to never check work emails when I was off the clock but with all of the tutoring, scheduling, etc. I do more often now. I just checked it and discovered an email from a current student. She is sweet and always says hi and bye to me which is something you'd think would be normal but really isn't. That's the kind of thing teachers notice and appreciate these days. Her email said: "Hi Ms. (NJChicaa), you probably don't check your emails but I remember you saying you live in bayville or barnaget or something like that, idk if your area is affected or not from the fires but I hope you stay safe." Very kind of her to remember and think of me and then to reach out. She is a good kid. Teachers don't get a lot of appreciation these days from the public let alone from students but this is the kind of thing that makes it easier to get up in the morning.
