They are back

Yesterday I went to the kitchen to make some breakfast for myself. Before doing that I decided to wash my coffee cup so it’s clean in time for coffee. In the process I noticed movement behind the window blinds.
They were not fully open so I couldn’t make out exactly what it was but I when I focused on that area I noticed yellow and black. It was most likely a wasp. I freaked out and ran away from the kitchen to my upstairs bedroom. No breakfast for me.
I called my mom and I became hysterical and through tears told her there is a wasp on the kitchen window. She tried to calm me down and then told me she’d come over and take a look and kill it if it’s there. She’s afraid of them too but at least she can approach one and hit it with a shoe. I cannot do that.
When she arrived I showed her where the wasp was. She lifted the blinds but no one was there on any part or side of the window. I managed to come near the window and check but it wasn’t there. Where had it gone?
We waited a few minutes and then all of a sudden it appeared. Where the heck was it hiding? I gave my mom hubby’s My Slipper and she hit the thing and then flushed it down the toilet. The wasp was gone and yet it didn’t calm me down. I didn’t feel comfortable staying home after my mom left. What if another one appeared…
I left the house and decided to go color and cut my hair as I was in need of it. Luckily my guy was available. I went to a few stores after that and came home when hubby came home from work.
Even though I didn’t see a wasp today on the kitchen window or any other windows I didn’t feel comfortable being home alone and, having no appetite, I decided to go to my uncle’s house to return a top I bought from his wife and exchange it for something else. (She sells clothes.) It took me close to three hours to get there and about that much to get back home. I was there for only about an hour as she had to leave. Got back home and my anxiety kicked in. Saw no wasps inside and still not calm inside.
I don’t understand how in the world they get into the house through the window. The screen is brand new and I see no openings or cracks in the windows. And based on what happened last year they were only on the windows or a few times on the floor by the living room windows. Makes me think that’s how they get in somehow.
I don’t want them in the house. It’s giving me anxiety. And I’m afraid to be home alone. How can we figure out how exactly they are getting inside the house and prevent them from doing so? It’s not even summer yet. I want to be able to be home alone without fear or anxiety. And I don’t want to leave the house just because they may show up.

Panic is the last thing you need to do when confronted by a wasp. That gets them stirred up and then they become aggressive. The best thing to do is stay calm and not make any sudden movements. If you open a window or door, most likely they will fly out of it and be on their way.
It would be interesting to know how it got inside your home.

Can’t open window as there is a screen. It can’t get out if there is a screen. There is a balcony door next to kitchen window but it has a screen too. Though that screen can slide open. However, what if opening the screen will lead more to fly in?

It’s hard for me to stay calm when I see one, whether on kitchen window or outside somewhere.

@lovebuglena But that's how people get stung, by panicking. Trust me, staying calm is the absolute best thing you can do when you encounter one. I know it's counter-intuitive, but it really works.

I used to have a wasp’s nest in between my patio door and the screen behind it. It took maintenance forever to get rid of it. Occasionally one would get in, and I’d just follow it around until I got a chance to hit it with a shoe.
They are so pesky and annoying. I’m sorry you have such a fear of them.

Would be awesome if I could just come near it and hit it with a shoe or whatever else. I do that with flies. But cannot do that with wasps, bees, etc.

I have seen some bees in some areas in our place but I didn't notice a wasp. Perhaps you can try some ways to prevent these insects from coming near your home.

I don’t think we can do anything to stop them from flying near our house. We can hang a special thing outside that will attract them and when they get inside it they die.

I'm sorry you find it so difficult to cope with wasps. It's good your Mum could at least get rid of it.

It is more than likely they are getting inside through a grate (like a cold air return grate) or a vent for the HVAC. Maybe something vented to the attic of the home. Wasps LOVE attics. They will hang there forever. Send your husband up there to look soon, especially if it's daytime and sunny and warm. You will have to get past the fear and find the entry path, and take care of it all, whether it's through a pest control or a home method. You can't be afraid to be in your own home, Lena.
