Memories - my father

I lost my father when I was ten years old but do have memories to know him as someone who cared for his family and loved us all
He was a town planner and did design set ups and some are still in existence. Our ancestral home was also designed by him
He had his own room and we as kids had no access there. Girls in the family later used it as their study room.
One incident is still etched in my memory and that is when I came back from school - my frist day at school - I rushed to him asking that my name be changed as I had come across so many names on that day. He then told me that I was named after his mother and that satisfied me.
I still remember the day we lost him.

You lost him young. I lost my dad when I was a toddler. I don't have any memories as such, but we have those black and white pictures and stories from my family to cherish his memories.

My father was fond of me and I was told stories about him when I was a toddler. I had some illness and I was on diet. One day my father saw me aim at some idlis that were on the dining table. I believe he saw me running from a distance to grab one and he let me knowing it was not good for me as he just could not bear to see a kid doing it.

@allknowing I have no experience with father's love. I had father figures but not real father during growing up years. When I see my husband and daughters together, I can sense how warm that love and care can be. I really have missed something so precious.

@arunima25 Even though it was for a short while I do remember the role father played in our life.
Your mother must have had a tough time caring for her children

It must have been quite difficult for you to have lost your father at such a young age.
You being named after your grandmother is a lovely tribute to her.
He was obviously a very talented man.
And it really is sad you lost him so young
