Oh my no, people. Buy now and pay later- on food!? How scary and how sad and oh, my, no. The times sure are upsetting. Yesterday I put together a boring meal but you know, it fed us. Months ago church folks gave hubby leftovers from their food bank efforts. People didn't want the split pinto beans. I ran into a bag of them yesterday. I decided to give some a try. They weren't grand. The bean skins floated around. But I had leftover brown rice so I stirred it in with some tomato sauce and garlic powder. It ate. Plus I pulled some home yeasty flat bread from the freezer. Supper doesn't always have to be a fat meaty roast and mashed potatoes and a giant chunk of pie. Sometimes supper is rice and beans. NO to eating now and paying later. Too scary.

I have a friend who is buying now and paying later. I don’t know if she truly gets what she is doing. Sometimes a bowl of black eyes peas will have to do.

@AmbiePam I would hate that- having a bill to pay and the food eaten, maybe I'm hungry again, but that bill must be paid.

People do this here as well, buy food now and pay later. I couldn't do it either. For instance the other night we had some boiled potatoes and a can of spaghetti hoops in tomato sauce total cost £.0.78 and it did us just fine. As long as I eat I don't really care much if it's basic. We do eat well be size we buy well. Years ago on here I used to post all the bargains we got at the shops. Food going out of date is not bad for us. Basically we are easily fed. Eat now pay now

@Ineeddentures I have eaten a ton of expired food and I am still here. As long as the can doesn't look horribly dented or the meat isn't yucky looking, grab it.

@Ineeddentures There is far too much food waste.

@sallypup totally agree. We have eaten expired food for years and never got ill. Nothing wrong with it.

@kaylachan On credit. You put your food order on credit and pay later. Hope you have the money later....

I manage to feed myself each month but I will tell you there are times I get tired of what I eat but then I tell myself it would be worse if I had nothing so I eat and share leftovers with a possum.

@RasmaSandra That's nice that you share. I wish there was a way for more folks to have a co-op- you get tired of your food, you get some of theirs and back and forth.

Really? That doesn't sound good at all. The world seems to be going to hell in a handcart lately.

I read this online today...the same news. Plus it's been on TV. I'm with you....we have meatless meals and we are surviving. There are other forms of protein besides meats, as you well know. Maybe these people are truly struggling...but charging food would be a never ending circle and never get paid for all the way. Scary is so right!

@MarieCoyle Meatless meals give lots of gut happy fiber, too plus minerals and vitamins.

@sallypup Meat prices continue to rise, more and more people may have to adapt.

I agree in principle, but take care. You will be the one paying later if something really is bad.

I was always told not to charge things like food. Save the charge card for big items. I do charge everything anymore but I earn Amazon rewards and pay my card in full every month. I would never do the pay later thing.

@sallypup Not worth getting into debt for. Simple fare is better for you anyway.
