India is a country that hosts people from all religions, castes, countries and communities. Do you feel India on its own is a peaceful country, and people from all over the world, can live here peacefully.
If not, what is lacking? How can we improve that?

I think India is a peaceful country because most of the citizens are afraid to take a stand on any issue. May be because we are cowards we maintain peace. The reason for saying this is that we are one of the most corrupt countries. Nobody questions the wrong doers. The might has always been right. There are of course exceptions and that proves the law.

In India also the ex-prime minister is imprisoned. Please refer Indian hiostory.
Secondly, this discussion is not intended to compare any other country with India. This is intended to talk about India only. Please be within the purview of the discussion. Your arguments may be discussed in some other forum.
Thanks.

All of them who are saying that india is a peaceful country ......are all typical indians.......it isnt that i dont love my country......but i dont support it when it is wrong .....u cant say its a peaceful country just by comparing to the less peaceful ones.....its like comparing indian cricket team to Bangladesh,Zimbabwe,Namibia,Holland,US,etc or comparing Indian football standards of rank 120 to the lesser ranked nations. There is so much communal tensions, caste differences. The students killing a professor [Professor.Sabarwal].The government doing injustice to the students by raising the quota % which is about 49% in IIM AND IIT,which i feel is an insult of knowledge.Lots brain drain, whom to blame,students.......WRONG.......Its the government to blame. The unity mentioned by you people is partial and does not imply all over the country ....... i agree the people come together when there is a calamity .... but other than that the unity is mostly shattered .... there needs to be a united revolution or else I cant see INDIA AS A SUPERPOWER till the next 5 decades .....2020 is an hyperbole.......lol.......think about it people.

cooltj89,
Do not worry. Slowly slowly people learn what is to be done... They will do that if at all such a time comes. The situation is still not that bad.
Like you and I will not be here permanently, these leaders will also not be here permanently. At no point of time all the leaders are coppupted, at the same time there was no time when everybody was good.
In Treta Yuga -- Rama and Ravana both stayed.
In Dwapara Yuga -- Pandavas and Kauravas, both groups stayed.
In Kali Yuga -- Good people and naughty people are staying at the same time.
But I beg to make you see that at no point of time in this country, the Wrong Doers were successful over the Right Doers.

like a peaceful pond on a blustery day,i believe india is a peaceful country with the small ripples of unrest characterising human nature and not necessarily widespread violence

I admire India because they do allow people of all religions, just look at what they did for the Dalai Lama but i think that there are some problems in India that need to be fixed, such as selling women as brides, domestic abuse (which happens everywhere) and various other social problems that are not exclusive to India but which do make life difficult for those living in India.

India is completely dependent on its citizens for its proper functioning. The government sucks. Its high time that the Indian people take an action against the politicians. Politicians(some) are not humans they are leeches that drink human blood. The common man works hard and earns his monthly wages and pays tax and these leeches steal this money and store in their bank accounts.

Compared to oter countries I think India is peaceful country. Because in India there are so many religions, castes. In other countries mostly there are just few religions , for that they are quarelling. But still India needs peace. Hoping India to be developed and be first among the world.

In general I think india is a peaceful country, people living there are nice and courteous and very polite in almost every aspect which i think made them very peaceful. My only comment is that indians should learn proper hygiene, my experience in india becomes horrible whenever i find my self in a croweded place, the smell of people around me was so disgusting. I even thought i would collapse whenever i take the public transport such as the bus and the train because of the bad smell of people around me.

yes my friend .india is the land of great culture .it's sad to know that the foreigner's give respect to our country that us.I will quote some sayings of great personalities about India and will continue my discussion.
We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made.
Albert Einstein.
India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of tradition.
Mark Twain.
If there is one place on the face of earth where all dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India .
French scholar Romain Rolland.
India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border.

India is a very peaceful country not because it has so many cultures, communities, population, languages, religions, historical events but because it is full of love and affection for everybody living in here. India was invaded by so many rulers and was ruled by unknown intruders from every corner of the world as it had riches and provess. India had cultural and heritage richness which was totally visible in the lifestyle of the rulers from those times.
That richness lured Britishers, Ghauri, Portugese, French, and many others who invaded India to rob India and make themselves rich. India has much of richness that every invaders cheated and then robbed it and even then Indians never hated any of those countries rather they went there now and made themselves the richest person in those countries.
If India would have thought taking revenge with all those nations who invaded India then it would have been a different story at this moment. But, India being a peaceful country wanted every nation to be happy with what they have and they never wanted anything back from them which they robbed from Indians.

Indians are one of the most racist people on the planet. All the peace is a fraudulent impression shared by the majority. It is those who refuse to share that impression that get labeled as antisocial elements in India.
North India, South India, East India, West India, Central India - there is no accord or unity anywhere, except in passing. We are nice to each other the way we are nice to tourists but nothing beyond that.
