why are we here?

i sometimes often wonder what is our purpose here? is it to work hard, get rich then die? or maybe have babies, be a stay at home parent then later die. do you think we all have a different purpose here on life? are we born to live a certain path? what is life all about? we may all live and be different but in the end we all die.
