If you are serious about your partner, then why not make the committment and get married. If you are not serious, why are you living with someone?
Marriage is a committment to each other and for most people it is something that they take seriously. Because of this, generally people will work at their marriage, but this will not necessarily happen if they are living together.

I think marriage is a very special thing. My preference however, is to live with the person before I marry them. This way I have a clear picture of what it's actually gonna be like to live with this person day in and day out and to work out any problems we might have before getting married.

My husband and I lived together for a long time before we got married, which in a way was good because there were no suprises after marriage, but now we are in church and trying to live our lives right and if we could go back we would have been married first.

marriage is better cause you feel like both people are committed and not just hanging out. I've been in both situations, my marriage sucked nevertheless, but I still felt like something was missing when I just lived with my last girlfriend. I'm still looking for that right one to marry.

I also like marriage if your partner is looking smart.

I believe that in today's world, where there are so many divorces around us, marriage has just become a piece of paper.
However, I am a Chinese, and the traditional Chinese still frown on living together if the couple is not married. So, getting married is like a 'licence' that allows the couple to stay together without having people around us gossiping... And where I live in Singapore, in order to qualify for some housing subsidies, we need to be married. Yes, this is true :)
