How do you stop your husband from snoring?

My husband is a snorer. He says he's just singing to me while we're asleep! LOL I used to nudge him, call his name, tell him to turn over, tell him to shush. Finally, I started turning on the radio at night to help drown him out. What do you do?

Little different situation here...I'm the snorer. He just shakes my shoulder and asks me to turn over. That usually stops it. If not, we've got an extra bedroom I can sleep in. LOL.

Our job schedules keep us apart sometimes and somedays the only time we are in the same place at the same time is in bed at night. I've thought of the seperate beds before, but the radio is doing the trick and I'd hate to have to sleep win a different room! After 36 years, I kind of like having him next to me in the bed! LOL

he can try using the breath right nasal strips.. I don't really know how well they work. I sleep right through my husband snoring. He sleeps through mine too. He says it helps him breath better at night though.

I've adapted! I used to put cotton in my ears... then there's always sleep aids... But it doesn't bother me any more!

My wife's snoring used to bother me dreadfully. I simply could not get to sleep if I was awake when she started. I would nudge, lift the covers to send cold air down her back ... anything to partly wake her! My own snoring never seemed to bother her as much. The problem is now solved. Not the ideal way for everyone, I know, but we now sleep in different rooms!

my partner is bad for snoring, i got so sick of booting him in the middle of the night for him to turn on his side so that he would stop snoring that i taped a tennis ball under the sheet so that he could not sleep on his back, he asked me why i did it and i simply told him that it was one of two options the ball or the spare room!! now all i have to do is find a way of getting him to stop grinding his teeth, lol

i don't think you can stop anyone from snoring. it's a physiological thing. maybe the doctors can help. why don't you try that? my hubby snores a lot, too but i let him be. after all, i always answer him with one of mine coz i snore, too! lol!

Well, let's see, I looked at your age and since it's the same as mine, I know you remember those plastic curtains from the 60s. My suggestion is (and this will only work if you really don't love or like him very much) that you locate a pair of those curtains. This would be very hard to do as I don't think they make them anymore; but I've been thinking ahead for you - get one of the flimsy checkered plastic tablecloths that fit a picnic table - you may have to get 2 of them - and make a set of curtains out of them. Hang them on a bedroom window. If you don't want anyone to be suspicious, you may have to decorate all the windows of your bedroom with these "curtains", but it's really not going to be that expensive at just $1.00 per tablecloth at any Dollar Store. Now, if your bed is not under any window, you will have to move it around (good early spring cleaning, you will tell the police) so that his side of the bed is directly under one of the windows. Now, here's the tricky part. You must wait for a rather blustery night when it will be appropriate for the window to be open (it would be suspicious for the window to be wide open on a minus 4 degree night). When the timing is just perfect, and that snoring starts, sit and watch as the curtains blow....watch them gently blow just a bit over his head...watch them fan out just a bit more....once they have covered his head completely, sort of tuck them in just a "tad" more, so that when he rolls, WHOOPS! NO HUSBAND! NO SNORING! BIG INSURANCE POLICY! This is just an idea - You might want to try what the others have suggested first ;-)

my husband snores too. it`s so irritating to hear when you are trying to sleep. I will shake him until he awakes and he will sleep on his side. that stops the snoring.

I usually start patting him on the arm or side until he stops and shifts positions. The other night when I patted him, he told me a knock knock joke. I said, "what?" and he said, "well you were knocking on me". LOL

I sleep with a fan on to drown out noises, but I really don't think there's any way to stop someone from snoring.

My wife tells me that I snore. I really can't normally tell, although there have been times when my snoring woke me up! My wife says that I snore whether I am on my side or face up. Do you snore, or just your husband?

He says if I'm really tired, I do snore a little bit, but it isn't a problem for him. I think it's because he probably drowns me out! LOL

The nasal strips work pretty well to open up the nostrils so more air can flow through the nasal passages. I use them because of my allergies so I can breathe at night in bed. One of my favorite things though that I can't believe that no one mentioned is the foam ear plugs! They are comfortable, they conform to the shape of your ear canal and they are cheap, only a few dollars for ten pairs. They block most of the noise but not all. I use them every day and I love them. So perhaps a combination of nasal strips and spray for your husband and some foam ear plugs for you?

Have you checked with your doctor? Snoring is one of the symptoms of sleep apnea. My kids used to tease me about my snoring; I figured it was genetic, my dad and all my brothers snored so loudly they rattled the windows. Now over half the family has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a condition in which you stop breathing in your sleep. Other symptoms include fatigue during the waking hours, nightmares about drowning or suffocating, unusual dreams and waking up gasping. If he gets a clean bill of health as far as sleeping illnesses go, then you could try the breathe right strips as so many others suggested.

Snoring - Husband snoring
My husband does snore, although he denies it. However he had surgery to straighten his nose (got broken playing football several times in his youth) and for a while that eased the problem, but the snoring is back once again. My husband has lost a little bit of weight over recent months, so I am hoping that will help a little bit to reduce the noise level. The radio turned on doesn't help either, because my husband cannot stand silence and always has to have a background noise, so radio goes all the time. Oh, well have put up with it for 36 years now, so another 36 won't make much difference I shouldn't think. LOL Now I just give him a nudge or tell him to turn over but if I am in a bad mood then I will do both at the same time. When I am so tired from being kept awake, I will go to another room for the night, just to get some sleep. :)

My husband only snores if he has had a bit to drink or is really exhausted. I tend to start by pushing him over on his side and if that doesn't work, I hold his nose. When he wakes up a bit from that I try and quckly go to sleep!!! I don't think anything bar an operation really works.

I've heard there are masks that help stop the snoring...and the last resort could be surgery that reduces some excess skin in the throat to reduce the snoring u know..
