How early in your pregnancy were you diagnosed with pre-eclampsia?

I want to say I was about 26 weeks when I started having problems, around 28 weeks the test started really turning up bad results, and at 32 weeks it went severe.

I had a similar situation. Developed preeclampsia when I was at 33 weeks and they had to induce labor early. My little girl was born weighing only 3 lbs 8 oz. She had to be hospitalized for 22 days, and I for nearly a week. For some reason she'd stopped growing at 31 weeks gestation, so she was small even for 33 weeks. How much did your son weigh?

Maternal diet during pregnancy is the most important contributing factor to birth length and birth weight.

Preeclampsia in cases will stop the growth of the baby because they aren't getting enough circ. I was also told that by my doctors when my son was falling behind a little.

WAIT! Preeclampsia is a disease of maternal malnutrition during pregnancy!

As to preeclampsia, what was your daily diet like? Were you on any special restrictions? Were you on a weight gain restriction? Did you use table salt?

Preeclampsia I was told was not from anything inpeticular. (SP) I was told to lay off of the salt, which I had already been doing, and not to drink so much water because I was retaining all of it and swelling so bad. However, I was told that preeclampsia can be caused in mostly obese women, young women, and women that have already had it before. There we're a few other things on there, however I was told by my OB/GYN that it was not a cause of poor diet or not enough excersising.

my sons were born 7 weeks and 28 weeks. i went into prem labour both times due to incompetent cervix. and i also had the first stage of cervical cancer, which i had 3 proceedures. because of this i have been told that any more children would put me at a 90% chance of going early. How is your little one now? how old is he? is he well now?

I can relate totally to you. My son is also four months old, born two months earlier than scheduled. ALthough he is four months now, I count him as a 2 month old, he behaves also like a 2 month old. He is normal now, thanks to god's grace, but I can never forget the trauma our family went through when he was still fragile. He was in the NICU for about two months. Your son looks very cute, cuddlable. May God bless him with a healthy happy life.

My daughter had twins early. She was 16 when her twins were born about 6 weeks early. The girls are now nearly 21 years old and doing well. Both have gone to college. One decided to put her college education on hold for a year and is working this year. The other is a student in Graphic Design at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. They are great girls and have had no medical problems. Medicine has progressed so much since then and things are so much better. Fewer babies born early have any problems.

I had my daughter at 34 weeks. I also had preeclampsia. She was only on oxygen for 8 hours. Her biggest problem was being small. She weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces and was 16" long. We were very lucky, she was able to come home 17 days after she was born. I was told by my doctor that I only had a 20% chance of having preeclampsia again. I am also scared, but I want to have one more child. My husband is more scared than I am, I think.

My neice was born prematurely. Did you know that Social Security will pay newborn premies a monthly check for 1 year? Check it out, your baby should quality for the benefit, it's hard with a preemie. I wish you the best.
