I think the fact that the moon has no atmosphere might have something to do with the fact that no one is living there. There's a huge difference in the amount of technology and expense needed to put a person on the moon, and the technology and expense of keep a colony of people alive up on it.
The idea that moon landing was faked has been floating around in popular culture for a while, but there are perfectly good answers to all the arguments of moon-landing skeptics:

What would you buy, theres nothing there. No light no water no food. No thank you I wouldn't want to live on the moon.

I'm not sure if I believe it's true. I can't see why they would have faked something that big and never been found out. Didn't the then president of USA say man would land on the moon before the 70s? And they landed there in 1969. That seems extremely coincidental. Also, from pictures, you see flags moving and you see shadows. That wouldn't really happen, at least not if all the the things we are told about themoon are true. Ie. if there is no atmosphere, there won't be any wind and therefore the flags wouldn't fly. There would be no shadow because the Sun causes shadow and although it does shine on the Moon, I don't think it would cause shadow there. So there are several reasons for doubting it was real but as someone else has said, surely the cost of getting someone on the moon would be less than faking it for nearly 40 years.

I would like to visit the moon and see what the fuss is all about. I think someone did land there.
