Have you ever noticed how disgusting a ladybug smells? Well there is a reason for this. Did you know that ladybugs create a chemical that both tastes and smells horrible to prevent birds and other animals from eating them. I never knew this before, did you?

I think I heard that before, and one other interesting fact about ladybugs is that there is now bug spray that kills them. I found that out one time when I live in an apartment and there was ladybugs everywhere, I went to my local hardware store and they said there is no bug spray that will kill them, they just advise sucking them up with a vaccuum.

Wow, that's an interesting fact as well. Well at least roaches aren't that immune lol.

All I know is I can't stand the little bugs. Around here we have asian beetles and ladybugs. The asian beetles look like ladybugs but are orange and not red. I just can't seem to keep out of my house.

I did not know this was the reason. I do know that my two year old and one year old have both tried eating them and as soon as you hear the crunch you'll see them spitting them out. My son (the younger of the two) will even wipe his tongue repeatedly trying to get any of the leftover taste out of his mouth.

I love ladybugs, they're so pretty. And come in lots of color variations. It's probably the only bug that I can stand hehe. Nope, I've never heard of that. It's a very interesting fact though. :)

This is one of the OLDEST discussions I've seen since becoming a member here on mylot!! Whoa.... 3 years ago! Long time ago!! Alrighty, no, I didn't know this about Ladybugs and I love the darn things!! lol I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who never smelt the bugs no less, eat them. BLA anyways! My brother hates them because "They Bite!" so he says. When he was married to his second wife and they lived in a old old trailer on our dad's property, the ladybugs were able to get in some how and bit my brother while he was sleeping..... during the day. He and my other brother play music at night at clubs, weddings and such.
