When ever we go out driving I see so many people so busy talking on the Cell Phone and not watching how they drive. I ahve almost gotten into a few accidents cause of people to busy talking on the phone...
They need to make a hard cord Law on driving and talking on the Cell phone.. If you need to make a call just pull over somewhere and then call... What do you think??? I know some States already have a tough Law, but maybe not tough enough...

Merry Christmas Cat, now for your question....you have struck a sore spot here! Last year a 19 year old young lady killed a cyclist while answering her mobile phone and so many accidents are directly held responsible to talking on mobile phones while in charge of a motor vehicle that I believe the fines which can already be applied ($150 to $1200) for talking on mobile phones are definately not administered anywhere near enough!

MErry Christmas Eagle...I have to agree with you on that. We have had many here in Vegas. It all needs to be enforced on the Laws as I have seen so many out there on the phone and not watching what they are doing. I'm getting to the point it is scarey to drive.

Yeah, it's dangerous driving while talking on the phone, but some people can't apart from their cellphones.

Yes, it is about time for the law to be implemented properly because people still pay no attention to the fact that driving and using a mobile phone is both dangerous and illegal. You can see people chatting on their mobile while driving every day of the week, so the only way to enforce it properly is to increase the penalty and make people more wary of taking the risk.

I would greatly prefer to be no cell phone allowance for used inside a vehicle. it ups the chances for accidents and we certainly do not need that. Am wondering what is so important that it needs to be done while driving a car. Can't anyone wait anymore? We too have towns that have banned driving and cell phoning. They will cite you! I applaud that!

Very well put.... It does up the chances for accidents, and it has happen here. The woman dropped her cell phone and was to busy looking for and ran a red light. It did kill someone in the accident. Alot of people think they can multi task...One area you don't want to be doing that is in you car...

I know NYS has a law , but they dont enforce enough. I see alot of people on the cell phone while they are driving, and they can stay within their lanes most of the times. I know me and myboyfriend especially honk the horn and tell them to get off the stupid phone and drive right.
Most of these people cant even drive right without being the phone as it is. What the heck can so many people are talking about anyway that cant wait till you get home?

I agree with you completely. I have said that so often when driving with my husband. In fact, even the radio blasting is a distraction. No one should talk and drive. I wish all the states would pass that law.

I can't tell you how many near misses I have experienced in the past few weeks due to people driving with cell phones glued to their ear. This is such a distraction for the driver. It is a proven fact that you can't drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time.
Why would you want to talk on the phone while driving? Is it an emergency? The call can be placed when you are home. Why risk your life and the lives of others?
If people truly need to talk while in the car they should pull over to the side of the road and talk.

It infuriates me to see people talking on a cell phone and driving at the same time. I can't tell you how many times I have almost been smoked by drivers who have a cell phone stuck to their ear. And what burns my butt more is that they laugh about it when it happens! Cell phones in a car are meant for emergency use only, not to carry on a conversation as if you were home sitting in your cozy chair.

If they would use the hands free ones I wouldn't have as much of a problem with them. At least then they are able to keep their hands on the wheel and not try to hold the phone while they talk. I agree that holding a phone and driving isn't easy and very risky. With the hands free I could understand it because then it's not really any different then talking with someone in the car with you. If you are using a regular one though you should pull over and concentrate on the call. It's just safer. It would be nice if they would put such laws in and enforce them. That's the big problem is so many don't enforce the laws and thus people just do as they please. They get hit with a huge ticket they'd rethink things.

I think people who talk on cell phones while driving should have their cell phone taken away from them cause they don't need to talk a drive at the same time...........Some can't walk down the street and chew gum at the same time without falling down.......LOL

I am all in favor of a "no cell phone usage inside a vehicle" law. I don't really care what people say, when you are talking on the phone at least PART of a person's attention is taken AWAY from the road to deal with the conversation. And according to an increasing number of insurance industry studies, people who talk on their cell phones in the car are significantly more likely to end up in accidents.
If you need to make a call, pull over and make the call!
