I am american and I have to say canada is better. In canada, you get free health care, no censorship of any kind, drinking age is 18 in most places and 19 in others, age of consent is 14 from what i've read, gays can get married, gays can become clergy, gays can adopt, they are medicines there that USA doesn't allow and most drugs are either legal or tolerated.

Well, This could be a very hot topic. I am Canadian. Never in a million years would I want to be American, especially now. I find that most Americans are loud, opinionated, and think they are God's gift to the world. This is only my opinion, but as a whole, where do the American's get off thinking that anything they want they can have. Like someone else's country. I cannot and should not group all American together, but as a group, I think they are too much. There is a Canadian t.v. show called 'The Rick Mercer Show'. He used to go to the States and ask people in government rediculous questions about Canada. It was hilarious. You'd think that they would know more about Canada, considering they are supposed to be educated people, and given we live so close. How can you be an ally if you know nothing about the country. I hope I haven't offended anyone. Everyone is an individual. I am talking generally. I also have relatives who are American and they too are very opinionated and pushy. And, yes, we do have people in Canada like that.

Hi there, I'm Canadian too, and I've met some very bright and educated Americans. It's frustrating for them to be tarred with the same brush as all the ignorant people who let the Bush (or the people pulling his strings, to be more accurate) con them into voting for him .

Our medical system used to be fantastic. We're going through a crisis because of the babyboom; we have way more older people than young people, therefore we are starting to see an increase in the number of people needing healthcare.
We're looking at ways to merge private and public together, but most Canadians are hoping to keep healthcare free for everyone. I'm happy to pay higher taxes in exchange for such a system.
We had a more liberal Prime Minsiter until the most recent election, however the new one, Stephen Harper is more right-wing. I'm hopeful that there won't be too many changes to the secular environment up here, but he certainly has a lot of conservative Christian groups in his party rallying for change.

In addition to what you just said, I have to add that Canada is safer than the US. I was watching a documentry about it.. people in Canada don't even lock their doors. And they RARELY have murders. They were showing a news brodcast for Canada and it was about new speed bumps in a street. Can you believe that! Here, in the US you'd never hear that.. all you hear about is people dying and such. Heck, I'm moving to Canada hah.

Homosexuals can adopt and become clergy in the USA. It is a matter of the adoption agencies policy or the particular religious branches policy, not law.
