Hi, i have a Bachelors degree in Management and when i finished the same i decided to get some work experience before i persue my Masters degree (MBA). Initially the plan was to work for 2 or 3 years but i have now been working for 6 years with the same organization. I do decide every year that i need to do my Masters but i have been doing well at work and getting the growth i deserve. I am afraid the way things are going i may not persue my Masters which would hamper me in the long run for better positions or Salary. What should i do? what should be the ideal time, experience and age one should persue their Masters degree? Do you believe a Masters degree adds value to your resume?

You have to decide whether u want to go for big salary or are u have with ur job prospects and recent salary...
But if u want to grow as a human being in the corporate section and earn money then U SHOULD go for a masters...
And i think while entering any b-school ur job experience really matters and yeah when u go for campus interviews then naturally u get a upper hand...

Hi,
It is always better to have a work experience for about two to three years before you pursue your MBA based on my personal experience. The reason is that whatever is taught in MBA is nothing but how you perform in any business organisation as a sole individual contributor. ANd this u will be able to relate the best if you actually have hands on experience to that kind of a working background without the actual knowledge of DOS and DONTS.
And most of all, the MBA will be best appreciated then!!
Cheers!!

i am a btech fresher.. i have a similar plan to work for 2yrs and then do my MBA... i hope it will work for me but finding a job itself is difficult at this time and again stop my work again and join masters will be a different task well i dont knw who far i will go but atleast i would surely do my masters if i cannot join an institue atleast i would do a distant MBA for sure...
all i can say is Masters really adds to ur resume and for better jobs so i think u can go 4 atleast distant MBA if u cannot join an institue..
have a nice day!

Master degree will be another one feather to your capof success in your career. Why dont you opt for studying through Distance education?so you wont leave your current work as well as you can study your master degree. If you feel that it is of low potential to study in this method.,then if you get seat in any of the premier institutions then without any second thought you join it.After completion sure many MNCs will invite you.All the best. But decide now.this is the right time.

Actually the best time to pursue an MBA degree is just like u had planned....After 2-3 yrs of work Ex.....But it so happens for most people that, once they get into a job, they are unable or unwilling to pursue their plans....ANd hence it leads mst people to such situations!!!
It still doesn't matter at all.As long as u are willing to do it...but don't ever go off that track,as then u might end up not doin it at all...!

Well i think 2 to 3 years experience after graduation is the right time to pursue the post graduation. But u seem to have working for 6 years now.. well nothing is lost as such.. There are certain one year full time courses of IIM Bangalore and other institutes.. which ask for around 8-10 year IT experience as their slection criteria.. although the admission fees is quite significant but itz worth doing graduation from these institutes..
well for more details about institutes you can visit my website on comprehensive mba resources at http:\\www.comprehensivembaresources.co.nr

It is ideal to do your MBA after a couple of years of work.
But since you have been working in the same oganisation for over 6 years, i would suggest that you do a course that is aimed at management professionals. Dont worry about consequences of not doing masters, because in 6 years I am sure you would have gained valuable experience.

An MBA will help if you are going into management positions. why dont you consider doing a part time mba degree? taking a part time degree will allow you to still stay on in your job and pursue a degree at the same time.

Hey, Even i have not done any masters, but Everybody has suggested me these, so am giving you this information.
1). It's good to have 2 to 3 years of experience. then join MBA.
2). It's good to go to the college than distance learning.
College studies have got more opprotunities than the Distnace learning
3). Ofcourse MBA adds more Value to your Resume.
4). You Can do the Masters, thats good.

An MBA definitely is a big Plus in ones Profile. Though there is never a fixed time for one to do an MBA, but it is better to have 2-3 years exp before one goes in for it.
But as you already have 6 years it is sufficient to think about it.
Since you are already getting the growth in your organisation and they do value having you. You can also look at pursuing an Executive MBA as they are in huge demand in the market and has good prospects. Most of the MNC's today do encourage their emplyees to study management as a part time coz they also add value to the company and offers you a better growth.
Hope I have been of some help. :). All the best
