back when you were a child, and your parents would say "You'll see when you get older" or "You'll wish you listened to me"
Thinking back, I wish I would have listened to alot my parents had said, and just want to take this time to say "My parents were right!"
Anyone else want to admit it??

Oh, yes! I've thought many, many times in the last few decades how right my mom was when she would say that I will see how the world is. I wouldn't believe things that she said back then or I would think that she was over-exaggerating things. Well, I know now that she wasn't.

Absolutely, omg so many things they said I should have listened to. Now, I tell my children the same things they said and I add that I should have listened to my parents too. Being a parent isn't an easy job, we just have to do the best we can and hope they will listen.

Yes, I have a new respect for what my mother went through, raising us as a single parent. Do what she could to keep us feed, clothed, roof over our head. I just wish that kids today would listen and not have to go through what we did.

This isn't about my parents, but my grandmother. I was pretty young in 1976 when the bicentenial hoopla was going on for the 200th birthday of the United States. I was at my grandmother's house and she was watching something about it on tv, and I was bored by it and said something to that effect. She replied to me that she knew that she would never again see the United States have such a "birthday" in her lifetime and so she wanted to enjoy that then.
It didn't make me pay attention to the bicentenial, and I don't truly think I missed a whole lot because of it, but I think about her saying that in terms of appreciating the moments that come to you and remaining aware of what's going on.
