Oh wow... that's a tough one. Does it matter whether they're still living, because Tony Hancock was one of the greatest comedians of all time. If you mean alive, Billy Connelly gets my vote.

Eddie Murphy. Not the Eddie Murphy that appears in family films though. The one that was in Beverly Hills Cop and similar movies.

I have to agree about George Carlin...Being a stand up comic he is great, he talks about true life things...Yes, he can get a bit nasty at times..But he is Greeeaaatt...
